Identifi is an advanced spread spectrum technology designer, an engineer of low-cost hardware, a software developer, and a service provider. At the core of the Company’s effort are its superior capabilities in spread spectrum radio technology and the application of that technology to radio frequency identification techniques which provide an automated, wireless solution to inventory control, loss prevention and sales enhancement.
The Identifi RFID system consists of three basic components:
- An RF transceiver-enabled tag
- Portable and fixed-mount tag readers
- Wireless LAN for collecting and transmitting all tag data to the host’s inventory and accounting IT systems

An inventory control computer connects to a Reader-Interrogator (INT) using the standard IBM-PC Parallel printer port or USB connection… The INT communicates with multiple (up to 1000) tags using a 900MHz RF link. An inventory session begins with the INT sending an initiating code… Each tag hearing this code will respond with its ID, selecting a unique, random ID if it has not already done so. The tag completes an entire ID/acknowledge exchange twice, at which time the tag will no longer respond to a COUNT command. By having the tag stop responding to COUNT commands after it has been counted, the system avoids duplicating counting… Once all tags have been counted, the computer program then commands a READ exchange. Each tag ID is addressed in turn, with a command for it to send its memory contents. If an error occurs, the tag will be read again using a different antenna combination… At the end of this session, all tags have been identified and the memory contents read. At this point, a tag may be re-programmed, re-read, or physically removed from the population.
The Identifi RFID tagging system affords users a variety of benefits:
- Reduced shrinkage in all areas of the supply chain
- 24/7 awareness of the location of all assets
- More efficient inventory counting and locating around the clock
- Improved customer service through reduced search time and inventory checks
- Increased sales (cross-sell and up-sell) through a direct customer interface via in-store kiosks linked to RFID-enabled inventory system
- Cost efficiencies that translate into bottom line profits
